Well I had to post as that was my first away game also. Just realized after all these years that by coincidence Southampton was my first game at home and away. I went to most of the games in that brilliant cup run QPR home, Arsenal quarter final, semi Replay v Ipswich and Fulham final. Missed first semi final and Swindon.

November 1966 away at Spurs . We won 4-3. Great game of football, one of the games of the season.
Next game 5-5 away at Chelsea just before Christmas 1966 .
Not bad 2 games 16 goals.

26th November 1977 West Ham v Leeds Utd 0 - 1 . Ray Harford scored the winner. I was only 11 and my dad brought along a milk crate so I could stand on it in the South Bank. Magic time. Totally hooked. My next game was the West Ham v Man Utd game in December 2 - 1. Again in the South Bank but I went with my 14 year old neighbour who was a Man U supporter. I was in the away end at 11 when it was kicking off with the police as he wanted to be with the Man U supporters. Magic Days escaping a kicking. Memories never fade. lol.

Re: Your first game?
I was a little boy and in those days we lived next door to orient. It was quite normal to talk about orient in same breath as west ham and despite my family all being west ham, it wasn't out of the ordinary that I could have supported orient. This game though decided my loyalty.
As for Wrexham the next year, yeah that stopped the hope of defending it quite quick didn't it!

Re: Your first game?
I could be wrong but I think my first game was a year after against Wrexham in the cup Penters.

1973 Saints at UP. Arrived after 3pm kick off Westside couldn't get down the terrace or see much as rammed and 12, goals were flying in at both ends, left at 3-2 5 mins before the end to avoid the crush and saints scored as leaving, groans all around, then along green st a huge roar 4-3 pop with the winner and a hatrick for the cockney boys! Was hooked after that next home game arrived at 11am down the front Westside wall standing on an orange box, happy days!

Some time in the mid 70s.
A school friend's Dad took us as a treat. I remember it was QPR and Alan Taylor (I think) scored.
Loved every minute.

Re: Your first game?
December 86 WHU 3-1 Southampton

No links to WHU but had supported them since 1980. Can’t think why!

My memory tells me it was Ince’s home league debut but I could be wrong. I was 16 up from the sticks and I remember preparing to get off the tube at West Ham but no one moved so I sat still to see where they got off. I remember the smell of the streets and the rush and walking out on the North Bank for the first time. Hooked isn’t the word. I knew I supported them before but once there that was it. The rest of the 80s and early 90s I went everywhere I could to watch them.

30th October 1971 away to Palace
with Booby Moore, Clyde Best, Pop Robson, Brooking, Bonds, Lampard and Redknapp all playing.
Was gutted because my then hero Hurst didnt play, but Ade Coker did instead, and he scored in a 3-0 win.
Met them all outside by the coaches and got a few signatures....great day and I remember loads about it.

Against Leeds in 1977-- with my Dad and Uncle. In the West Stand Upper. I can't remember much at all about it, but apparently this was John Radford's last game for us.
